Could an ultrasound-guided injection help you?

If you're living with persistent joint or musculoskeletal pain, an injection may be one of several treatment options available to you.

At Physio Motive, we don't simply treat the painful area. We first assess your symptoms and, where appropriate, use diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound to understand what's causing your problem.

How ultrasound-guided injections work

We believe the right treatment starts with the right diagnosis.

Your appointment journey typically involves three stages:

1. Assessment & diagnostic ultrasound

Before an injection, you will need a diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound to assess the affected area and help identify the source of your symptoms.

If you've already had a suitable diagnostic ultrasound at another clinic, please contact us to discuss whether this can be used.

2. Discuss your treatment options

Once your problem has been assessed, we will talk you through the findings and discuss the most appropriate treatment options for you.

These may include injection therapy, physiotherapy or other treatments where appropriate.

3. Ultrasound-guided injection

If an injection is appropriate, it will be performed under ultrasound guidance.

Ultrasound allows the clinician to visualise the relevant structures and guide the needle towards the intended treatment area.

Why choose an ultrasound-guided injection?

Unlike an injection performed using surface landmarks alone, ultrasound guidance allows the clinician to see the relevant anatomy during the procedure.

🎯 Precise

Ultrasound helps the clinician accurately identify the area being treated and guide the injection towards the intended location.

🔎 Informed

Your treatment can be based on the findings from your assessment and diagnostic ultrasound.

🛡️ Carefully guided

Real-time ultrasound visualisation allows the clinician to see the needle as it is positioned, helping to avoid nearby structures.

💬 Personalised

Before treatment, we will discuss your symptoms, the ultrasound findings and your treatment options so you can make an informed decision.

Which injection is right for me?

There isn't one injection that's right for every condition.

The most appropriate treatment depends on factors including your symptoms, diagnosis, the affected structure and your individual circumstances.

That's why we assess the problem first rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

Following your diagnostic ultrasound, we'll explain the findings and discuss the available treatment options with you.

You don't need to decide which injection you need before contacting us.
